Fees when selling selfmade DVDs?

i got a question:

when i sell a selfmade dvd in germany (selfmade movie, concert of a coverband, ...) do i have to pay for using mpeg2, ac3, dts, ... or are the license fees already covered in the price for the encoder software/hardware?
does it make a different wether i sell for profit or just for the price of the blank+shipping?
does that situation differe much in other countries (just for the unlikely case i'd ship some discs around the globe)

Hopefully that answers some of your questions. However, I don't think anyone's going to come after you looking for royalties from a few home made DVDs......

thx, that covers the basics

if i get that right i'd have to pay 3-6 cent per disc
so i think for a release with let's say 250 copies they really wouldn't come after me
i mean it's just 10 bucks

but if the band i work with wants to do it all right
how would that work?
do we just send an e-mail: "we got 250 DVDs ready to be sold, we'd like to transfere you the $10, what's your account"???

Music royalties (for U.S. originated music) are managed by two organizations -- and they both have simple licensing programs for cover bands, broadcast, etc.

i meant for using teh audio-technology like mp2, ac3 and dts

i think the band has all experience needed to get the rights on the music right
