Ok this is probably a really stupid question. But Im trying out the Big 3 method for only like the 2nd time ever. I have installed everything as per the new revision guide and am setting the apps up right now. Im at the Senaid setup part and am trying to get it to use Scenarist 3.0, however that option is greyed out. Only 2.6 can be checked. I have scenarist 3.0 installed and everything so I thought this was kinda wierd. Not sure how scenaid determines what options should be greyed out or if there is a manual way to say Here is my scenarist version. (like in an .ini or something). Could anyone help me out? If any more info is needed just ask. THanks!!

EDIT: Also, I have been reading around the forum and noticed that Scenarist cant handle seamless branching dvd's? I have one such dvd that Im trying to do: Alien from the Alien Quadrilogy. It has seamless branching, so Im wondering if some sort of manual interaction is going to be required by me to get this one to work?

There is an application in the Scenaid Folder (and program group) called ScenaristScan

run that.. it'll scan your harddrive for installed versions of scenarist..

If it can't find one, you'll be prompted w/ a form to browse and select the Scenarist.EXE file...

-- You are correct, Scenarist does not handle seamless branching titles.. it will reauthor them but you'll be missing the interleaved assets causing a slight studder/pause when it navigates to/from the IlVu unit (or where it use to be)

But both versions of the movie will be fully intact? There is nothing i can do to correct this studder? Thanks I will give that a Try when I get home from work.

Yes both should be fully in tact

No.. there is nothing you can do.. the studder is better/worse on different players as well.. on my Pioneer, if you didn't know there was a studder, you'd never notice it

Apart from buying a Mac+TFDVDEdit, that is :)

Yea and who would buy a Mac for one piece of software? When every other piece of useful software is for the PC. I like Macs and all, the G5 proc. is pretty sweet. But they just suck for software. Oh and they are way more expensive as well.

well.. above would be one reason... that software is the only software on the market that can do a true seamless branching / story title

I wasn't suggesting it would be cost-effective for you to do it, but that software is a solution open to mere mortals (unlike the Panasonic/Toshiba systems), so thought I'd point it out. Note that it's cheaper than the cost of Scenarist plus a PC ;)

I imagine it could be very worthwhile for some professional DVD authorers. They can use their PC for authoring, copy the VOBs over to the Mac, and then "fix" them :) If I recall correctly, Arky is a little perplexed at why people aren't more favourable towards this idea, and I can hardly blame him (I've never used a Mac btw).

But I digress...

it would be lovely if tfdvdedit were available for PC. one can dream.

I just find it mind boggling that no one at all has made software that truly suppports seamless branching except for that one mac developer. I mean seamless branching has been around for a while... Have those fellows over at Sonic been hiding in a hole for the last 5 years or so?

Last I heard sonic said Scenarist will never support true SB.... they'd have to rewrite their mux engine from scratch

as of right now, MuxMan is our best bet for a PC application that does SB

You have to remember, the pro's have other methods besides software.. not that many amature designers (or even small pro's) have a need for SB
