I obtained an XviD AVI which was just a couple MB too large.
So I reprocessed the end-credits (with audio) using XviD 1.0.3 and quantizer=1.5, reducing its size some 2MB. I reset the colour-bit (byte 187) to that of the main part of the AVI, then appended the reprocessed credits.
The reprocessed end-credits by themselves play fine without shaking, and audio is OK.
However after appending as above, the end credits shake up and down badly as they scroll upwards.
Audio is in sync throughout - the shaking is the problem.
If you are wondering why I did not process video and audio separately then remux at the end, it is because the original audio saved as WAV (in Nandub) would not remux with video - it would simply freeze Nandub - that was wierd enough in itself.
Hopefully this procedure can be used in general to trim slightly oversize AVIs without losing content, but there seems to be something strange about this AVI.
