dvd backup

i just look around the rls sites (nforce, vcq) and i was wondering are there any stats that the 'scene' upholds to?

its pretty obv. that one click dvd backup tools aren't best for quality so does anyone have ideas on how to get the best quality for dvd backup?

that sounds like you are asking about things to do with illegal content. if so you should read this forums rule #6.

Hi there!

In order to get your DVD data on harddisk, I suggest you use DVDDecrypter. In my opinion the best :D available decrypter, and: it's freeware! :)

That's about all I can tell you, cause I don't have a DVD writer yet :(.

But, getting the files from the DVD to your harddisk and ridding them of the region code protection, CSS a.s.o. (=decrypting) is a major step.

You then have to look around for a tool to reencode the video stream so that it fits on a 4.7 GB DVD-R/+R. Unless of course you have a writer that supports DL (Double Layer).

OK, that's about as much as I can tell you.

I use DVDDecrypter to get the DVD on my HD and then encode my films either as SVCDs or as DivX.

i just wanted to know of some good dvd backup programs that aren't just one click wonders.
a program being called 1 click does not make it bad at all. look at programs uch as dvdshrink which is good for when a dvd only need a small amount of reduction, its a transcoder so is very fast and does a good job.
for larger dvds you can look at programs such as DVD-Rebuilder which can use encoders(CCE,QuEnc etc) so provide better quality.

there really is plenty of different programs so you need to do a bit of reading and looking and dont automatically go '1 click = bad'. :)

That's exactly what I think :D.
Especially for the beginning 1click solutions are a good way to get started.
