So i have started capturing and making video footage from a couple of games: counterstrike and world of warcraft and i found it to be fun and enjoyable. First, i use fraps to capture (full size 1024x768 30fps), virtual dub / videomach / adobe premier 6.5 to piece together and make the videos. The problem comes when i encode the final product. There is a mass amount of pixelation that occurs after a few seconds and i know that there is a way to reduce that to nil to almost nil as i have seen other videos of game footage without the pixelation. I am using xvid codecs in virtual dub. I am trying to make a relative good quality video with low size of course, but think i am doing something wrong.

I tried using some filters in virtual dub: chroma smoother, null transform, temporal filter, but it only reduces it slightly, changed frame rate from 30 to 17, and resize to 800x600. Any help would be much apprectiated!

I can provide a sample video if it will help

What are you using as the export format on Adobe Premiere? MPEG-2 @7000kbps i hope :)

I've done my anime music videos like this, I encode them to MPEG-2 Full quality, then I load them into VirtualDubMod and save them as .AVI (XviD)

Edit: But if you can get the videos without running them through Adobe Premiere, run em through XviD.

Try applying a small amount of bluring, then use the high quality 2X reduction in virtual dub, that should get rid of the aliasing and improve compresability.
