Panasonic's DMR-E100 is supposed to include Mpeg4 decoding (as well as real-time Mpeg4 encoding). For "slightly" more information look here: -

How well it does this is anybodies guess!

And please observe forum rule 12...

It would help if you indicated which part of the world you're in;) I have seen recording DVD/Divx players, even at Carrefour, here in Belgium. Note SMD's point that a player that can also record in MPEG-4 is a completely different game and much more complicated. Good luck.

Here in Italy Amstrad is selling DR300: DVD recorder (+R/+RW), 4 quality settings (1,2,4,6 hours), mpeg4 player (very good), based on LSI 8602 chipset: clones are the packard bell one, Wortex 1000 and other ones I can't remember. I have it, and I like it. Two mains contros: lack of battery for the hour (if there is a main power supply lackage, the display and the hours settings will flown away) and the relly slowness at startup. Main pros: USB port (yes, it reads from FAT32 external Hd or pendrive), DV in, DTS decoder on analog outputs and many things.
ciao ciao

Yes one of these, that records from DVB-T would make a complete package (almost), as long as it had a large upgradeable hard disk, and was ready for H-def, when it comes out.
with an integrated Can Cooler and crisp dispenser.
