If i encode with h264 and aac (within an mp4 continer as created by "mp4creator audio.aac audio.mp4") is preferible as container MP4 or MKV ?
and for AVC + OGG ?

Or is basically the same (i would watch my films on a htpc) ?

This would not be a flame but a question for a better future compatibility and "playability" (dunno if this word exist... ;) )

Sorry for my bad english

For AVC + Vorbis use MKV, for AVC + AAC it doesnt really matter, but if all you mux is that MP4 seems more logical.

It also depends on the tools you want to use after that, and what playback support you would like (the type of the audience, OS, software installation skills, etc).

As i said i will use a htpc or similia. So ffdshow + mpc would be my preferred choice.

They I would go for MKV. More customizable.
