View Full Version : Looking a filter to remove neighboring channel interference.

I'm working on archiving my VHS collection before they all rot away on me. If such a thing exists, I'd like a filter that could cut down on this pattern...

What you're really seeing is a ghostly pattern of channel 2 on channel 6, such that light parts of the screen have little distoring effects, but dark parts cause a large amount. Note the cross in the upper right, the gutter where the channel 2 frame is wrapping around on the proper image, and an echo of a person on the left.

Over actual video, it produces a slight warping effect, but a noticable lightening pattern. In motion, it's quite dynamic, so this frame doesn't do it much justice.

I'd considered the VDub motion blur filter, but that adds a lot of ghosting effect for very little filtering. I'd like something that would tone down the lightening effect of the interference pattern without actually blending neighboring frames.

Thank you for your time.

That's an avisynth filter.

I can't admit to knowing anything about AviSynth, and it seems the download page just refreshes when I try to get it...Save As stores a copy of the interim page. :j

I'm also having trouble saving it, as is. I tried to lay it down under XviD at about 1000, but the file comes out at two to four times that bitrate, about four gigs when I wanted CD-size. Should I assume that XviD doesn't play nice with the dancing static? It still came out large, but not as oversized, when I tried a partal encode at each lower resolution and with motion blur filtering.

In one Avisynth Forum under removing diagonal bars thread, it was mentioned probably you were looking at a filter. Please look into that thread http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=643009#post643009
If what you are looking at is corresponding to that it may help you.
