Hi,

does anyone know the answer? Why does movie-series look like they look? And why not like movies? Are movie-series too sharp? Are the actors not so good in series? Is the color different?

If someone does not know what i mean, he/she should look series like "California Clan", "Gute Zeiten, Schlechte zeiten" (from Germany). They look simply like it is a theater..

And if there is a factor, how movies and series differ, how one can remove this factor... i mean not all series have this effect/deffect. Some look simply like real good movies.

Now summerized the question:
- Is there a factor why series look different from movies
- How one can make look series like movies

Have someone an idea?

the series you mentioned are interlaced (50 / 60 fields per second) while movies are progressive (24 or 25 fps)

50 / 60 fps looks more natural
and 24 / 25 fps looks more artificial

So your meaning is, that the reason is what was discussed in the producing Film-like motion blur (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75523)-Thread? I thought, that maybe the procedure, which were talked in the How to achieve "film look" on PAL DV source (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87791&perpage=20&pagenumber=1) -Thread can also help to get away of this "series-look".

But maybe this is a set of different aspects... I can't say why this look so how it looks...

just deinterlace GZSZ and do crop(0,72,0,-72).addborders(0,72,0,72) et voila: the Filmlook is yours!
