I'm now pleased to offer you the AutoGK Newbie Guide available to download!!. This guide is for the new user to AutoGK and will show them the BASICS of backing up/converting a DVD movie ONLY to the DivX format. It is a multi-media guide that contains two small video's that guides the new user by the hand.
You can download it here:

Any comments, suggestions or additions you would like to see added (possibly even a new guide about another topic!), post to this thread or e-mail me: smalloasis@hotmail.com

No spyware is included in the file. I dont know where u have got that spyware from but it sure wasent my file, I checked the file with M$ Anti-spyware and Ad-aware SE Personal Addition and nothing was found (this is with all the latest spyware definitions installed), infact I specialize in PC security.

Let me get this straight. You specialize in PC security, but:
1) You don't allow Firefox.
2) You choose RAR to package the contents.
3) You need to check your own files for spyware.
Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, but this is all real odd.

1. I use firefox but the guys that hosts the file do not support it.
2. Whats wrong with rar over zip?.
3. Spyware can come from many sources (and NOBODY is immune), so I regulaly check all the files on my PC for infection. Part of securing your PC is checking, so I dont now how u can flame me for that.
I hate spyware myself, and would not knowengly put it into any of my guides/programs. Len0x has already downloaded a copy of the file himself and found no spyware, follow this thread:

Why do people assume cause someone said there is spyware in it there MUST be?... cut me a break will ya!!!

Ok guys.. back off him a little
After further research, the applet installed by 35mb.com in orderto download their files is what's installing the adware/spyware ( and from the looks of it, quite a bit)
DaMasteRZ: i'd recommend if you want your guide to be used more, a different place host would be recommended... p

Why would anyone need an applet to download a file? I thought only porn sites used that trick.

I didn't mean to belittle the guide itself. I'm sure it's fine. Although I can't actually comment on it since I never downloaded or attempted to download it. (Too many mental red flags went off about the process.)
One of those red flags is RAR. The tool itself is fine (aside from not being free last I checked), but it's probably a poor choice for anyone in the newbie category. Since there is no native support for RAR files in any version of windows, newbies are going to have a tough time with it, probably increasing board traffic due to inability to d/l the guide. Additionally, the container is increasingly used to house viruses because not all AV software handles it yet. Anyway, I'm way off topic.

Having thought about the comments raised I have to appologise. I agree that RAR compression under a newbie context is not ideal (after all zip is far more popular). I also did not know (until last night) that the site tries to install an applet before you can download the file, this did not happen to me when I tried to download it and only happened when I had a friend upload to the site and I tried to download something.
For these reasons I do NOT recommened ANYONE download the guide until futher notice. I will zip up the file(s) and find a proper home for it and will let u know as soon as possible.
Once again I appologise for any spyware that infected users PC's.

If you have enough traffic available I can link it from my download section.

There should be enough traffic. I wouldn't worry about it linking it. Apple doesn't care about transfer, and they are super reliable.
Thanks Len0x!

That's a pretty original guide :)
Your link to the In depth guide is broken. I get a 404.

Is it updated for the latest stable release?
P.S. I actually have a comment about the guide being too slow in lots of places - IHMO it should be more dynamic, so that user doesn't fall asleep :) I mean it should be enouhg time for user to read popups, but not more than that (sometimes popup is several words, some time a a couple of senstences, but length of the movie bit is the same atm)
