D2S output, mpv would not convert to m2v.

Ok....

What exactly are you trying to achieve here? As in, why are you renaming the files?

I want .m2v as opposed to .mpv so I can play the file in PowerDVD in full screen. As you can see in the picture I have attached, I renamed with the proper extension, but it's still in .mpv format.

So what does PowerDVD do when you try to play this file?
An mpv and an m2v file should have exactly the same content - MPEG2 video, so it should work either way

PowerDVD opens up, but doesn't play, of course, because it's still in mpv format eventhough I've renamed the file with the .m2v extension. The only mpeg2(elementaty stream) format PowerDVD support is m2v.Only way I can get PowerDVD to play is to perform a Pulldown, which converts to m2v.

Try the "Media Player Classic" to make sure that the file is playable.

Media Player Classic plays the mpv file fine, it's just does't fill up the monitor like PowerDVD does when viewed in full screen mode. I prefer PowerDVD because it's accurate on how the video would look on TV.

the path to your file seems very odd...could that be it? Try moving it to a directory without special characters

Well yeah, the file is in another partition. Tried moving it to my OS partition, same result.

I never had this problem before. I usually could make the change with the .m2v extension.
This all started after downgrading PowerDVD from v6 to v4.

I have much the same issue with WinDVD, it wont play a *.mpv file, all you get is a black screen. But a simple rename to *.m2v and it plays perfect :D :)

then I think the obvious answer would be to "upgrade" back to V6. :)

Didn't help going back to v6.

I'll just reformat and create a good backup image.
