MSU lossless video codec.

Seriously, is this really 110% lossless? What's the pros and cons in comparison with huffyuv? I tried it out and the outcome was 83 mb when the huffyuv was 114 mb :) And when choosing low compression, I take it that the advanced options aren't involved, right? Because denoising isn't a good thing? And what's Delta/PP frames? It really looks like a good lossless codec and I just might convert completely. Lossless rules :D I mostly want to know if this lossless codec is safe for use?

MSU is much slower than Huffyuv, so it's useless for real time lossless capturing (for example from a PC TV tuner). But for archiving video footage, if only the final file size matters, it's ok.

On their website, I see that the program has some different compresion ratio's. One of them is lossless, but other settings use compression.
One of their targets in upcoming versions is to improve speed. Maybe we can use the program for capturing, if speed improves.
I also want to see a comparison of the lossy side with a MJPEG-codec. but first the speed has to improve, otherwiase it don't make sense.

But since this is a relatively new codec, this is what I want to know: is it more stable than Huffyuv? Is it equal or better than Huffyuv when encoded with fully lossless?

Until they improve the speed, it's useless. I cannot even play it on my Athlon XP 1800+.

If you have a fast cpu its pretty good for archiving, however ffv1 gets better compresion and is around an order of magnitude faster. for capturing you could google for logarith, its pretty fast and gets better compresion then huffyuv.

Any idea? Yeah, change to XP. Win 2k has been really buggy lately. At least for me when it comes to codecs and stuff. You might have the same problem.

It did not appear under my XP too. Then I ran the installer the second time and everything was ok.
