Hi,

Just wondering.
The program looks very professional and it does a lot. Was it a commercial software once? What's the history, who's behind it?

It used to be DVD-X-Copy...before the lawyers got to them...

the author is dvdshrink, you can find him here (http://forum.digital-digest.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=48) and in these forums too.
They(poeple) say he now works for nero and dvdshrink is almost like a beta test for recode.

DVDShrink is not related to DVD-X-Copy at all.

Once upon a time there was nothing, then God said "let there be Fair Use"

and there was DVD Shrink

And God said "it is Good"

@Paulcat
How did you ever come up with that conclusion?

Maybe it was just a rumour, but that's what I was told. Ironic I thought, as my uncle hated xcopy and loves dvd shrink, that they were the same...perhaps not?

Don't think that one went up to the US Billboard Top 10 list... :)

Nope, but it was up on the Saturday morning kid's TV charts (http://www.70slivekidvid.com/drshrink.htm) in the 1970's... ;)

Derrow went to work for DVDXCopy but that's about it. As mentioned DVD Shrink was programmed by DVDShrink :)

ah the memories of the early days when it was still challenging :)

I'm sure the the MPAA goon squad would like to have his name, too; which is why he wisely chose to remain anomymous.

As doom9 users, we should respect his privacy, too. He is who he is; it will do us no good to have a name. What does knowing his name have to do with using his program? Nothing, unless you're an MPAA lawyer.

I don't think it would be that hard for them to find out who he is if they really wanted to :)

No need to assist them.

Like other users have said the author of dvdshrink is dvdshrink. I've never met him personally but my wife has and she says he's a nice guy. It doesn't really matter who he is or who you think he is..it's a moot point.

I know who he is. He's the guy who made a great little program for free public use. Truely a great guy. :D
