View Full Version : Problem with encoded video track length

Hey guys,

I have these muxed mpeg2 files that I am trying to encode with AutoGK. The process completes properly, but for some reason the final length of the video is almost 30 seconds longer than the source. The audio, is the original length.

My source .mpeg is 53:40 (both audio/video) @ 29.970 fps. While the final length of the video track in the encoded .avi is 54:09 @ 23.970 fps.

I had originally thought that maybe the length of the video was in fact 54:09, but whenever I demux the mpeg, I get both video and audio at 53:40.

Any chance someone can shed some light on what may be happening? This is only a problem because the audio is severely out of sync, and pretty hard to fix with a 30 second difference.

--*EDIT*--
Virtualdub says the video is 54:09 while Nvidia's decoder & PowerDVD say 53:40. I understand that this isn't AutoGK, but what can I do to fix this?

Thanks!

Where these mpeg files are coming from? Have you tried checking if there are any errors in mpeg files?

I have checked for timestamp errors, but if you are talking about something else, no.

I added some info to my post... it looks like the only problem is Virtualdub reading the mpeg2 file (incorrectly?) I don't know. Nvidia's MPEG2 decoder and PowerDVD detect the length correctly.

The mpeg2 files are recorded HD, process is a custom filter looks like this;

Firewire->Nvidia TS Info Parser->MPEG2 Demultiplexer->Cyberlink MPEG Muxer->Dump filter

If there are some errors, how do I check/fix them? I know... this is sorta out of the scope of AutoGK now... so just tell me to look elsewhere if you don't got the time ;)

Thanks,

Try rebuilding it with ProjectX.

Grabbed ProjectX (looks like an awesome tool) but maybe it's my lack of understanding German (website) or something else... I can't seem to figure out how to "rebuild" the mpeg. I see the basic stuff like, demux, to m2p, to ts... etc... unless when you say "rebuild" you mean to demux then re-mux. If that's the case, what is a good mpeg muxing tool?

Thanks man.

Sheesh... I can't seem to get anything done one my own today.

The fastest solution would be to just produce TS out of mpeg and then feed it directly into AutoGK.
