Using VirtualDub etc to 'remove' Qpel or GMC ?

I know this has been asked before, but is there an good way to 'remove' Quartel Pixel or Global Motion Compensation from an XviD file?

My network media player (Neuston MC-500) doesn't support either.

The answer is to re-encode. Currently I'm using Virtualdub - and using two-pass mode. Overkill? Any suggested Virtualdub settings? Or can I use Avisynth or another tool? Thanks.

Yes all you need to do is reencode the source without GMC / QPEL. You dont need AviSynth or any other special tool. As for the settings - 2pass should work it out.
You may also try to encode with XviD 1.1 (beta) due to the added VBV which should improve playback performance for standalone players.

You can use V-Dub for re-encoding this file (In Xvid codec settings uncheck Qpel(or GMC or the others like BVOP)it's in the profile tab in first pass settings)Also dont use chroma motion.

Why? Letting XviD use the chroma planes for finding motion vectors is a pure encoder feature the doesn't need any support on the player side. Other than a speedup when encoding (and maybe a drop in output quality, unless the video has heavy chroma artifacts), you don't gain anything from disabling it...
