I have a mulit part question and some of it should be in hardware but all comes back to a bad burn. I recently added another dvd burner the first one was an lg gsa 4081b single layer burner which burned all my dvd5's with no problems. I added a lg gsa 4063b dual layer burner which from the beginning was giving me focus and tracking errors, within seconds of the start of the burn with nero.
First question LG says that I can't run dual burners and that was my problem, but I see from others here others run more than one burner.
After removing older burner, reformating pc windows XP, replacing IDE cables to 80 pin, replacing power supply(thinking it might be faulty) with orginal firmware I get same errors. After upgrading firmware nero says burn succesfull but disc is corrupt 500 mg from end and won't play. I have burned over 100 dvd-r,dvd+r and + and - rw's. all having same results 4 out of 5 burns fail even though nero say burn ok but nero verification fails. And disk is not readable.
This is the stupid part if I reduce my burn speed by half burn 8x at 4X it burns successful. 4x at 2x again successfull or burn under 3.5 gb on any dvd 5 at maximum speed burn is successful, burn 4470 mg at maximum it will fail. This is the media I have been using:RITEK 8X DVD+R,PHILPS 4X DVR+RW &/-RW (Menorex),OPTODISC 4X DVD+R &/-R,Info Smart 4X DVD+R, and Anwell Precision 4X DVD-R.
I think I have a bad burner, but I am fighting with LG,and they are saying that it might be my proccessor, which I don't believe to be the problem after all my single layer burner works without any problems. Anyone have any insight or ideas I will thank you in advance.

The bit about your cpu sounds pretty farced....have you tryed other programs? Nero is by far not the only capable program for DL burning...in fact, it's generally the last resort I would personally trust. Try out DVD Decrypter, ONES, or Record Now Max or something (at least decrypter is free). I don't know how much I'd trust the 8x Ritek either, dont get me wrong, I've been burning riteks since the dvr-A03 came out, but the one spindle of G05's I have had was shit dye, they lost my trust.

I have used DVD Decrypter, Alcohol 120, even tried dvd fab all have same failure at maxium speed. I have not tried any of them at half speed, as I know nero can.

Just a folowup my problem is now solved. LG service is still claiming 1 burner per proccessor .So i can't run two burners. Also lg will only support TDK,Verbatum and Maxwell media anything else I am on my own. However talked with Pionneer tech support and they seem not to have these problems. So goodbye LG, now I go to for 2 Pionneer DVR-109 burners.

NEW
Over 100 sucessful burns with the pioneers Dual layer burners so it was the LG causing my problems. So lg is right you can't run 2 LG dvd burners on one processor. LG better get their act together.
