I have a 3ivx movie that I want to burn on a DVD and play on a standalone DVD player. Now I know how to do this with regular DivX or Xvid movies, but the tool I use for those (DVD2SVCD and D2SRoba) cannot be used for 3ivx.
Could someone explain to me how I should proceed? One thing that probably will complicate things is that I want to incorporate subtitles.

try changing the fourcc to divx, dx50 or xvid
a fourcc cahnger is installed with koepis xvid installer builds

They probably mean a 3ivX mov/mp4.

@Doom9: DVD2SVCD says it doesn't recognize the input file

@aaar9800: won't that give problems? the file is encoded as 3ivx, so even if I would change the fourcc the encoding would remain 3ivx?!

@celtic_druid: sorry, but I don't understand what you're saying


some extra info, I had forgotten to mention:
I'm on a Windows XP machine.
the codecs I use come from the K-Lite codec pack (the full version I believe).

3ivx is just like divx5 and xvid a mpeg-4 codec, meaning they are interoperable
read the mpeg-4 sticky :)

How can I change the fourcc?
The k-lite codec pack also includes a fourcc changer, but I can't select 3ivx for the source. I can select "fourcc description code": xvid, divx, div3, div4, mp42, mp43 and "fourcc used codec": xvid, divx, div3, div4, mp42, mp43

How should I proceed?

Actually you can type whatever you want in. The idea is to change from 3IV2 to XVID, etc. not the other way around anyway.

Util only works for avi's though and I still suspect that you have a mov or mp4.

It is quicktime format.
I can only play it in BSPlayer and GSpot won't give me any information on it. So will changing the fourcc help?

That is only possible with QuickTime Pro. I don't have this piece of software and this will probably not change any time soon.

There is no such option in QT Pro.

I believe you can use TMPEG to encode 3ivx.mov/mp4 files to a DVD compatible formats.

You have to select the *.* option in the open dialog and have the 3ivx Filter Suite installed.

I found out there is a Quicktime plugin for TMPGEnc. This enables it to encode .mov to .mpg. From there I can use DVD2SVCD to create the DVD files. It cannot be done without this plugin!
Well, I think this solves it.

As said it should be able to load via directshow.

Well, I think this solves it.

I believe the plugin is not necessary. All you have to do is force TMPG to process the mov/mp4 file and then it will use the normal 3ivx DirectShow filters to decode it.

Indeed, it works.
It just takes about 15 hours (!) to convert a 2 hour movie.

Today I tried RAD tools again.
This time it worked (apparently reinstalling the various codecs helped). However, the result is not what I expected. I first tried the "DivX ;) MPEG-4 Low Motion" compression method. This resulted in a sheared image and very low quality.
Next I tried huffyuv. This was even worse. There was no visible image at al and both BSPlayer and WMP crashed after a second or so.

Could anyone give me a hint as to what has gone wrong, because I really would like to use the RAD tools as they are a hell of a lot faster (45min compared to 15hrs using TMPEnc).
