I'm trying to copy these "Asian version" of some x-files dvds, but cannot seem to rip them with dvdshrink. Whenevr I open the discs, I get the following error: invalid navigation error & the program won't continue. Some of the discs also occasionally get stuck & jump around when playing them.

However, I don't think I actually need shrinkdvd because (1) the DVDs are only 4.7gb & (2) they are region free with no encryption. I was in fact, however able to copy one of the discs using Sonic RecordNow. But the thing his I only want to copy certain episodes, so I'd like to rip the DVDs & then reauthor them, recreating menus for the episodes on the discs.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

If you think it's a 'ripping' problem, rip the files with DVD Decrypter first, and then feed those into shrink.

If it still fails, this isn't a decryption problem and so doesn't belong in this forum.

If Shrink fails, why not try one of the other shrinking tools? Most offer a trial period.

I just tried it using dvddecryptor & I fails with the following error: W 12:31:05 Failed to read Sector 20880 - Unrecovered Read Error

So it seems impossible to rip the discs onto the Hard Drive even though they are supposedly region-free & not encrypted. Again, I was able to copy one of them by doing a full disc backup using Sonic RecordNow. But I wanted to only keep some of the episodes on the disc.

They sound like defective disks to me.
