The latest AnyDVD (payware) and the latest DVD43 (freeware) handle the copy protection schmeme, dubbed Arccos, that was implemented by Sony. Search for Grudge or for Arccos and you are bound to find more information on the topic. It has been discussed at length on several occasions.

Take care...

You can always rip it to your hard drive wity dvd Decrypter then burn it with Dvd shrink just make sure to have the latest software.

Thanks for the help. I ended up using dvd decrypter with dvd43 running in the backround then ran the file through dvd shrink and came out with a perfect copy. Thanks again for all the help.

>>> I ended up using dvd decrypter with dvd43 running in the backround then ran the file through dvd shrink and came out with a perfect copy. <<<

If you have DVD43 or ANYDVD running in the background then whatever is encrypted will have already been decrypted by the time that DVD Decrypter reads it. Therefore, you could have done a straignt DVD Shrink read of the DVD, rather than indirectly through a set of files.

Just done The Grudge PALR2UK as a full-disc backup and also a movie-only backup. I used DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink.

No problems whatsoever. DVD Decrypter handled the decryption perfectly but it took longer than usual.

Make sure you're using the latest versions of Shrink and, more importantly, Decrypter.

I had problems with some movies (Resident evil Apocolypes) that when I tried to copy them using dvd shrink 3.2 came up with an error message and that it couldn't analyse the disk content and so couldn't copy the disk. I came to realise that there are some blank movie sections added to the start of these movies which stop any kind of copying and made an error appear.

My way around this was to use an earlier version of DVD shrink 1.03 which doesn't analyse the disk to start with but allows you to re-author the disk first. Which I did, and selected the re-author button, selected the main movie but then selected the crop tool. I then clicked next chapter to jump from the start of the blank clip to chapter 2 within the film. I then pressed the rewind button (not chapter back key) to go back to where the actual movie starts cutting out these blank clips which cause the errors. I then continued as normal to copy the movie without any errors.
