From what I could gather, one way of doing it is to download the latest FFDShow build from celticdruid and the moonlight mp4 splitter from here (http://www.elecard.com/ftp/pub/mpeg/misc/beta/MP4Demux.zip). I don't know wether there's an updated version of the splitter or if I can playback x264 encoded AVIs that way though. I searched a bit and looked into the FAQ but found no answers. So, what do you use for playback of Recode2's MP4s and x264 AVIs?

[Edit]
Oops, wrong forum. Mods, please move this to Codecs :o

as a dshow solution you can use indeed ffdshow for playing avc video streams inside both .avi and .mp4

for .avi you dont need to install a special filter as there is already a default one installed on windows
for .mp4 you should indeed be able to use the moonlight splitter or after installing nero vision express also the nero parser, which i use
