xvid to dvd

I need a program that will quickly and easily convert my xvid/divx movies into a form can can be played on a dvd player, i will be burning dvds, so i dont want to do svcd or vcd. Size is not an issue as long as its under 4.7 gigs.

Why don't you just use your original DVDs? In case that they fell victim to some accident, DVD2SVCD has an option to use AVI as input, too - as far as I remember. Though I never tried that mode.

i would like to keep maximum quality, svcd is for cds right ? i would like to burn the movies to dvd.

It seems to be able to produce DVDs as well. I take Doom9's word for it: "A while ago DVD2SVCD got another feature: create (S)VCDs and DVDs from AVI sources."

I've got a xvid/mp3.vbr source trying to convert it to DVD which is easy. The hard bit is the audio is out of sync!

I've tried extracting the audio like Virtualdub suggests (then recompressing) when it detects 'errors in the header, fixing it, however this might skew the audio.....' but I can't manage to sync the audio up... Even going into Audio->Interleaving->Audio Delay and changing it and preview the change hasn't helped, I get really close but its not perfect.

The other avi files all have this error (vdub detects error) but the audio has transfered in-sync to the DVD.

I am using Main Concepts MPEG Encoder, and TMPGEnc DVD Author which work great, MPEG Encoder is really fast, 1.5hrs for 43mins of video.

Any ideas?

VirtualDub always reports my cbr audio as out of sync vbr for some reason but if Media player or VLC play it fine you should find it converts to dvd fine as well.

If not you can use VirtualDubMod to demux the stream and of course adjust the framerate to match or extract the audio with besweet and use that to add a delay to the audio so it plays in sync.

Regarding an mpeg encoder, try FreeEnc which is much quicker :)

Technically the thread is going off topic with audio as it is an Xvid video (not audio) forum so to get back on topic - the film machine (freeware) also converts avi to dvd, a google search for Thefilmmachine should find it`s website.

Download goldwave and use the batch function to convert the audio
stream (simply put in the .avi file into it) to convert it to wave.
Should work this way.

I have an urgent problem.

I try to convert AVIs (Xvid+AC3) to DVD, but the audio is constantly out of sync when I am converting with The Film Machine.

I have also used VSO Divxtodvd, but it's resulting copies stutter in my Philips 952 player. Therefore I moved to try with TFM.

The TFM has an option to set audio delay, but how do I get the correct value? And yes, if I play the AVI files with PC, they are perfectly in sync.

To quote the moderator, "Teegedeck", earlier in this thread, why don't you just use your original DVDs? - meaning, why don't you simply use DVD Decrypter (or similar) to rip a copy of your original, purchased DVD?

I have beta tested this software it it seems VERY promising. The quality should be quite sufficient even for the more demanding users. After all Divx/Xvid to DVD is always a compromise in quality, featuring multiple compression cycles. But this software performs very well, and is mighty FAST. You can encode and burn 100minutes of material (high res AVI) to a DVD in less than an hour (P4 2.66 HT).
