I have a few questions, I just started a new PC, had media player 10.. I only got video while trying to watch a movie on my computer to see if it was backed up right. I tried downloading a few codec packs for audio and now I have nothing!

I went back to media player 9 and I still have nothing, I open the .vob and media player starts then has an error and closes :(

I tried installing windvd and I get the same thing.

when I look in the movie folder, the .ifo anf .bup files are ones that arent recognized. I dont remember this being like that on the old PC but i cant go back and look now. Is there soemthing I need to recognize the bup or IFO?

Has anyone had a problem like this or? How can I get audio and video?

I am running XP and had no problems on my old comp.

thanks in advance

Download and install VLC Media Player, drag & drop the VOB file into it and see if it plays? It should, considering it is not dependent upon any codecs installed in your machine and has everything built in.

Reg: the audio, is it AC3? If so, then you are probably missing AC3Filter. MP3 should be natively recognized and played by Windows. If it doesn't play MP3 audio either, then your soundcard is b0rked.

I will DL it and try.
I have sound, just not in the movie
I got the filter but where can I find the player?

Also with the IFos not reccognized is that a problem? before i used to just double click on the IFO and the movie would start, now I cant because it is an unknown file

VLC Media Player - http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/0.8.1/win32/vlc-0.8.1-win32.exe

Did you try right clicking on the IFO, 'Open with..', 'Choose Program', select WinDVD and then check 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'? (*IF* you were using WinDVD to play DVDs from IFO files before. I don't use WinDVD/PowerDVD myself).

OK I DLed it dropped in the VOB and it works, sound and audio. thanks!

I also changed thr IFO to media and windvd and it says the file type is not recognized and closes.

Do youor anyone know why media player or what would cause it to do that? I wonder becuase like I said it worked before, and now it wont. If i can fix it it would be great just so I know if it ever happens again

thanks again
