TV-Capture Card for Laptops?

Well, I need one for capturing. USB2.0 compatible. I have an old laptop: 950 mHz, 256 mb SDRAM. So, any suggestions? Bring on the list :)

Then I highly doubt that it has USB 2.0. I'd double check that first, whether your laptop has USB 2.0 or not.

I don't know for sure whether bundled software supports other DirectShow codecs. I don't have this card, sorry, I only know that AverMedia produces such a PCMCIA tuner. I think yes, if they support MPEG4 encoding only when Divx or Xvid codec is installed. A citation from product page: "To encode MPEG-4 format files, User needs to download DIVX codec from www.divx.com OR XVID codec from www.xvid.org"

A panoply of card assuring this function exists:

- Happauge Wintv PVR usb 2.0
- Leadtek Winfast tv usb 2.0
- Pinnacle PCTV usb 2.0

There are others but these are the most efficient.

They are silent about max capt. res. It seems to me that card is limited to lower resolutions. Avoid!

And you will get better software certainly with some brand card.
Question is has PCMCIA enough bandwith at all for 720x576 (480)?
