right i had a transport file that i needed to convert to mpeg2. was told to use dg index and this has left me with a d2v (?) file that is considerablly smaller than the original (824 Kb compared to 4.21Gb). now i am stuck. i downloaded avisynth 2.5 as i believe that i need this next but damned if i can see how to use it. help!!!!!!!!

Did you read the QuickStart guide in the DGMPGDec 1.2.1 zip file?

A transport file IS an mpeg2 file, isn't it?

Yes. If he just wants the elementary stream, he can demux it with another tool. But I thought I'd directly answer the question in the thread title.
