Hi,Recently I am using some codec to encode some anime with a such low bitrate (620k + 64k),
xvid1.1/x264/rv10/nero recode,
my nero recode give me a .mp4 file, and when I play it in mpc,
drag the seek bar will sometimes cause the screen croupt(etc, display -2 sec played frames).
I am trying to demux the avi from nero mp4,
I connected these pins and get an mkv file,
but the target mkv file were un playable.

http://my1993.com/PpsDES/Cap/NeroRemux.gif

Standard ¨C AVC,480kbps,FourCC in mkv files are "avc1"

this message popup when mediaplayerclassic open target mkv file:

---------------------------
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
---------------------------
Assertion failed!

Program: ...e Codec Pack\Media Player Classic\mplayerc.exe
File: C:\mydocuments\ffdshow\src\ffmpeg\libavcodec\h264.c

Expression: pic->data[0]

For information on how your program can cause an assertion
failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts

(Press Retry to debug the application - JIT must be enabled)

"avc1" setted to decode by libavcodec in ffdshow.

the moonlight splitter are build 1.0.3.4.1105 (offical newer build can't connect as that version),
some body told it can't demux B frames out,
some posts told that nero avc1 is not standard h264 formats so libavcodec can't decode it (in VDM every frame get (-100) error),

Is it impossible demux it to standard video file?
thx

 continued...
when I change a method, use newly mkvtoolnix-head-20050130-1.rar to mux the mp4 track to mkv files,
the mkv codec info are V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC and be decoded by 3ivx with only black screen.
when I extract the video track, mkvextract refused me:

V:\DvdRip\Recode>mkvextract tracks NeroVol6v5demux.mkv 1:v5.avi
progress: 100%

and nothing be extract out.

| + A track
| + Track number: 1
| + Track UID: 41
| + Track type: video

| + Codec ID: V_MS/VFW/FOURCC

(575.440 fps for a video track)

that fake framerate info generated by mkvinfo itself.

mkvextract would return this message:

V:\DvdRip\Recode>mkvextract tracks [LoveHina][H264_680k][Nero]vol6v5.mkv 1:v5.avi
Warning: The extraction of video tracks is only supported for
RealVideo (CodecID: V_REAL/RVxx) and AVI compatibility tracks
(CodecID: V_MS/VFW/FOURCC). The track 1 will be skipped.
Nothing to do.

this my mux lines:
"F:\Program Files\VideoTools\matroska\mkvtoolnix\mkvmerge.exe" -o "V:\DvdRip\Recode\[LoveHina][H264_680k][Nero]vol6v5.mkv" --language 3:jpn --default-track 3 --fourcc 3:avc1 -d 3 -A -S V:\DvdRip\Recode\[LoveHina][H264_680k][Nero]vol6v5.mp4 --track-order 0:3

I think nero don't want people use other container or decoder to deal his Recoded files.

I'll give up now...
and go to try some other codec,vp6/3ivx/etc with low bitrate now

you don't want me play your h264 suitable, others can.

until some vfw version avc recode released :(

Haha!
mkvtoolnix muxed mkv files can play successly like nero's showtime.
In mediaplayerclassic with newest matroska splitter always choose "avi decompressor(mp4v)" or 3ivx decoder(until I unregsvr32-ed it) not the same in mplayers ffmpeg decoder.

AFAIK you can only mux AVC streams with MKVMerge to MKV (not with "gabest MatroskaMuxer")

For playback you need latest Matroska Splitter:
http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/

and use Nero's audio-,video decoders for playback (or latest ffdshow as audio-,video decoder).

This works very well.

3ivX can't decode AVC atm!

Read the MP4 faq, maybe you find a tool to convert the stream to AVI...why? I prefer MP4 and MKV over old AVI

thx filewalker
yeah~
that version splitter with avc mkv files play right now by the ffdshow/Nero decoder either.
strange things,
is the garbest splitter was Offical build
and means that Halli's builds were Unoffical splitter?
it always has an read-only setting dialog,
i can't fill the hole in tray and get the ikon gone hide.

edit:Now I found while it splitting in player, choose filter-> setting dialog appears changeable options,
and thought start menu,it still read only

btw:I don't want 3ivx to decode my 'mp4v' stream,(when playing avc mp4 thought mp4splitter in mediaplayerclassic),but he always jumped out and show me some black screen.

first of all "mp4v" is for signalling mpeg-4 asp streams and not mpeg-4 avc
dont use "mp4v" on avc!

than 3ivx doesnt support avc decoding, the problem you get is because you use "mp4v" and therefore the decoders think its asp
