DivX HD?

Just saw this on another forum and wanted to check out the mother of all dvd sites to see if this was something new. Is this the same as DivX Pro?

Divx HD is simply a DivX profile.

you can encode with any codec in HD, even the oldest one ;)

HD encoding is not a new/special feature of a codec...

While that's true to an extent, the new Fusion series codec (http://www.divxlabs.com) will let you encode HD video in better quality than was previously possible, and we now allow up to two consecutive packed B-VOPs in a DivX HD Profile video.

of course it would also be possible to pack it as I PBB N N

I believe you could theoretically scale most video coding technologies to aburdly high resolutions, although it would be quite inefficient. The problem being is that it many codecs and platforms choose to implement support only for certain resolutions. You'll notice DivX, for example, won't accept anything higher than 1920 x 1080 at the current moment.

it makes sense to do that
seeing as how there arn't many displays or cards capable of decoding/displaying something that high
so I guess a hacked codec could possibly be unresticed possible?
