With the ProjectX 0.82.0.04 source code from the doom9 download section and Sun's JDK 1.5.0.01 and build.bat's path to the JDK set properly, ProjectX.jar can be created.
OK, try to start it with Sun's Java Web Start Launcher and it fails.
The error message says the required field jnlp is missing from the launch file.
Why does this happen and how is it "fixed"?

hi,
don't bother, once you unzip it you will get a directory
that is called "ProjectX_Source_0.82.0.00" in which you will find
the projectX.jar file already compiled by OozooN
(from http://www.oozoon.de)(thank you Oozoon)
the directory is misnamed it is actually 0.82.0.04 and if you
have the java runtime (J2SE runtime environment)already installed all
you need do is click on the .jar file.
cheers

I don't think I have the source archive for download ;) Yet I recall having compiled ProjectX on Java 1.5, but I've since downgraded for the compilation because some people didn't get they needed Java 1.5 (quite superior to Java 1.4.. I'm using it at work).
@bdf: I host my own compiled binary.

Doom9,
Sorry about that, that's why this version
doesn't have OoZooN on the top.
Thanks,

Please Doom9, could you tell us the oldest (smallest) JRE which can run the version you compiled for us?
I use it on a rather old machine (P3 + 128MB RAM + Windows 2000) and don't want to install a 10GB 1.5 Java machine just for that!
By the way I could install an old JDK onto a more recent machine to compile a french version, so the question is: "where do i find an old JDK (say 1.3)?
Thanks a lot for your invaluables guides.

why would you want an old JDK? The API in 1.3 and 1.4 is the same, it has only changed in 1.5. The latest build on my site was compiled with 1.4.something, and you only need the JRE to run it, not the JDK.
So API wise, the 1.3 JRE should be okay, but I don't know if there are any quirks that might ocurr. And quite obviously I won't install JRE 1.3 to test it for you.. that's something you have to find out on your own.

hello Doom9... i also have a question about projectX and i did not see the reason to start a new topic. [if its allowed that i do this?]
i was wondering if there is a way i can convert a 1088i 'grey barred' stream into a 720p 'no bar' stream in one step ? i have been using projectX and boy does she fly !! i would love to be able to do that in one step but kinda new to the HD streams. somehow after i projectX a .ts (1088i) it comes out 'bar-less' @ (1080i) which is great, but for going the step further down, i usually go with canopus pro and the roku-720p stb method.
thanks for any help, and possibly a pointer to a detailed user guide... everything i've learned so far about projectX has come thru experimentation.
