View Full Version : Scenaid crashes on "The Grudge" Extra's Subs

Hi I have been working on the Grudge for a little while now and I just finished encoding the extras and when I tried to use Scenaid when it is scanning the directory it crashes while scanning for the subs of VTS 8. If I take the subs out of the VTS, it scans it fine and creates the script fine. I think this is one of the dvd's with the newer copy protection. This is the error I get:
(13) Type Mismatch
Procedure Name: Time2Frames
Module Name: GlobalFunctions
Error Number: 13
Error Description: Type mismatch
Error Source: ScenAid
Error Line: 6
Call Stack:
Time2Frames --> GlobalFunctions
ProcessSST --> ProcessAssets
ProcessSubs --> ProcessAssets
ProcessDIF --> Form1
DIF_Browse_Click --> Form1
This isnt a really big deal since I dont watch the extras a lot, let alone need subs for them but in case you wanted to look into it more feel free. Thanks

Angelus,
thanks for taking the time to post your error.
D3s7 is currently working on a fix for these 'problem' discs. it is a two-stage process.
1. fix the errors you are finding where vstrip/vsconv creates negative times in the .sst files. this is has been fixed by D3s7 is currently being tested internally before public release.
2. what to do with the garbage files, that are introduced as part of this protection scheme. there is also a situation that exists where there are zero framed cells, which scenarist can not reproduce. this is currently being investigated but given the talents of the people looking into it, i am confident a solution will be found shortly.
cheers

That's the good news... the bad news is the grudge has an interesting layout that can't be reproduced exactly by Scenarist...
If you notice the main Movie vobid 1 had 4-5 cells that are 0 frames long.... - no authoring program that I know of can do that
The best I currently can suggest is to demux the grudge by VOBID then remove the .avs file that points to vobid 1 - it will be dummied - the times in the ifo for an overall picture will be off but the movie only exists in vobid 2 and the times for that should be correct..
A few other uses are currently having the same issues w/ this movie (NOTE: 1- this movie has the new sony Arccos protection which is the root of these errors 2- myself and a few others are working on finding the best way to handle these new movies

I tried what you said about demuxing by vobid then deleting the avs. When I try to compile into scenarist right away I get these 2 errors multiple times:
Error The Color Palette in the cell<VTS7_Title1_PGC1_PG1_C11> is difference from the reference cell "VTS7_Title1_PGC1_PG1_C1".(PGC:"VTS7_Title1_PGC1"("Title:<VTS7_Title1> VTS:<VTS_7>"))
Error 'Cell:"VTS7_Title1_PGC1_PG1_C1"PGC:<VTS7_Title1_PGC1> (Title:<VTS7_Title1> VTS:<VTS_7>) ' does not have a scene. (Dummy Cell)
I searched the forum and found a few instances of it but couldn't find a concrete solution as to how to fix it. thanks

I'm currently working on a fix for that.. i may have one but it's not fully tested..
as an FYI, vts8 of the grudge has to be done by cell which I'm also working on supporting

I got this exact same error when doing R1 Planet of the Apes, also by vobid, however has angles so will try cell id, been a while since i had to author manually, but will give it a go.
any news on a fix yet?

yes in many locations :)
for now, just change scenaid to "use scenarist palette" then don't copy the palette info during the ifo update step
a new build that solves the problem will be out soon (as soon as I hear back that it's stable)

Ack, I mislead you D3s7, as usual I didn't read the whole post.
my error is the same as this one... (not the pallette issue)
Error 'Cell:"VTS7_Title1_PGC1_PG1_C1"PGC:<VTS7_Title1_PGC1> (Title:<VTS7_Title1> VTS:<VTS_7> ) ' does not have a scene. (Dummy Cell)
Scenarist hangs during import. Opening the scenarist file manually and starting the compile spits out the above error straight away.
It might be that it is a R1 with angles.

this is old, but i finally got back to doing and incase somebody else is having this issue, i'd like to post that i got it to work finally doing the following:
http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56078
used that guide and did the "Remove Crap" option.
Then made a new iso, and re-did the di4fu/scenaid/cce part.
Got a few "CRC Errors" in scenarist, that i just corrected with ac3fix, and it works flawlessy
Good Luck!
