Help please with cells, or vobs, or time counter - I'm to new to know which one.

ok here the deal.

Rip a Disney DVD with DVDshink 3.2 ( only rip the main movie and trim off the front and end )

when I play the movie I've riped with TW 2.5 it stops the video @ the place where the first chapter changes to 2nd.

I've looked at the movie with nero's showtime 2 player witch plays ok, but looking at the OSD see the time counter skips 1 sec.

like this 22sec 23 24 00 25 then shows correct time from there on.

any Ideas


UPDATE--

Looking at "Snow White", the old movie I've found that the prob. is going from cell to cell in the VOB.

the first cell ends and the run time counter goes to 00 for 1 frame then goes back to the place it should. ( IE 44,45,46,47,48,00,49,50 sec. )

This also happens later at differant places in the movie and I'ver tried ripping with 4 diff. programs.

Coming to think of it, DVD Rebuilder had a bug prior to 0.56 that caused freezing video on my Sony player that was accompanied by strange clock behavior. The problem turned out to be an incorrect Presentation Time (PTM) in the VOB. Does the video stutter at all when the clock goes out of sequence? This is a long shot, but you could try a "mock strip" with IFOEdit to repair VOB pointers, etc. VobBlanker might help too.

EDIT: Which other ripping/backup programs/combinations have you tried?

Sorry for the delay been out of town.

I've tried DVD shrink 3.2 and DVD Decrypter 3.5.2 and nero recode 2.

this prob sometimes follows after converting with AVS conterter to AVI or mpeg.

Very weird.

AVS converter? As in Avisynth?
Converting to AVI (Divx or the like?)? I'm confused as to what you are explaining here.

If you are having problems with a DVD5 backup (mpeg-2, not mp4 in avi), try doing a "mock strip" with IFOEdit. This is getting a bit advanced compared to using recode or shrink, but It may very likely correct the erroneous presentation times in the VOB files. How to do a mock strip. Sorry I can't think of a more simple solution! DVDShrink and Recode should be pretty solid solutions. Can you make a simple flow chart of what you are doing? (i.e. DVDDecrypter (file mode) -> DVD Shrink (to folder) -> Nero (DVD-R) ).


Oh, I just read the part about how you trimmed the "front and end" of the movie. I should have read more closely. How did you do this? With DVDShrink? Anyway, just rip the entire disc to your drive and do any editing or main movie backup procedures from there. I assume you have tried the guides! Right?
