I have made a half a dozen AC3 files and want to burn them either to DVD or CD which ever is easier to do and then play them back on a home theatre DVD player to test different surround sound parameters -mixes.

What is the recommended way of doing this I assume I do not just make a data DVD-R and copy them to the root directory it can not be that simple.

If you burn on a CD, you'll need to make sure your AC3 files are 44.1 khz and in a .wav container. This is referred to as a dolby digital-cd or dts-cd, if you search you'll find some threads on the subject. The problem with this method is that it requires a 44.1 khz sampling rate and such CDs are not well supported on CD/DVD players ( I would guess approximately 10% play these CDs correctly over s/pdif).

Burning on a DVD is better supported - you'll probably want to create a DVD-Video with a still image accompanying your AC3 tracks. There are several authoring tools capable of this, search this forum and the dvd authoring for more information.

The easiest for testing is to run a s/pdif cable from your computer to home theater system, although this is not always possible.

Thanks,

Looks like the still image thing would be the way to go for me, I am going to look in to how to do it.
