View Full Version : DVD Shrink 3.2 Out of Memory

I just bought a DVD writer and loaded DVD Shrink 3.2. I backed up a DVD, and thought all was well. Then I tried a 2nd one... and I got a pop-up "Out of Memory, the target is too small". This came up shortly after pressing "Backup", with the miniature screen previewing the source data.
Now:
1) I'd set DVD Shrink preferences exactly as you advised in your (may I say very easy to follow) guide.
2) I had a blank DVD in the drive.
3) There is 13Gb free on my harddisk. (Yeah, okay, I suffer from harddisk envy)

I've tried different source DVDs, I've tried different blank media, I've deleted the partly-decoded files, I've changed the target for temporary files folder... but every time I run DVD Shrink I get the same message. The only difference is how far it's gone through the source - sometimes 2%, sometimes 29%. It never gets to 100%.

Can anybody help?

I've got 224Meg Ram. I hope I don't need 4.7Gig?

nooooo...... :D

but 224 MB isn't that much either... i'd at least recommend 512 MB. I have yet to use DVDshrink on a system with less than a Gig ram, so actually i do not have any experience how it fares on a rather low spec system.

my only suggestion (apart from upgrading) is to make sure that you reboot your computer before starting dvdshrink and to make sure that no program (process) is running that does not absolutely have to...
