DVD to computer

Hello all. I am new to this site and i tried the search but i couldn't find exactly what i wanted to do, or i simply didn't understand it. Basically here is what i want to do. I want to copy the dvd to the computer but compressed(the more the compression the better) to where the quality will still look good on a 10" screen. A simple program that can compress dvds to the harddrive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
