Hi all.
I spent 2 days trying to figure out how to change the original movie menu to work with my ripped version, and nothing.

Let me explain:
I have two movies on one dvd - the main one I want to keep and an extra that I don't need.
There is one main menu that has 3 options: to play the main movie, to select scenes from the main movie, and to play the extra movie.
If I select extra movie, I get another menu with 3 options as well: to play it, to select scenes from it and to return to the main menu

Now, I ripped the main movie and, using IfoEdit, hacked ifo's and vts_01_0.vob, which contains all the menus for the main movie plus some commercials that I ripped off.
So, I got the main movie vobs and a hacked menu vob that has only the scene selection menu.
When I play the movie, it starts at once, and works fine.
If I press Chapters button, I get chapters menu, which also works fine when I choose a specific scene - movie goes there and plays just fine.
But, the last button in scene selection menu that originally returns to the main menu is not working anymore.
When I select it, it just goes to the beginning of scene selection menu, and then I can't use root menu and title menu anymore.
So, if I select chapters menu, I can't go back to the movie unless I select some chapter from this menu.

What I need is to change the command associated with that "Return to the main menu" button so that when I select it, it goes back to the movie playing, whether on the very beginning of the movie or the same place it was before I selected chapter menu.

I tried digging through vts_01_0.vob file with IfoEdit, but couldn't understand anything.
I also tried using MenuEditor to associate a command to the last item in scene menu, but then the whole menu stops working...

Tested with Jump_TT, Jump_VTSsomethingsomething and other "likely" candidates, but nothing.

Can anybody explain to me how and with what software to change menu items in ANY menu I keep when ripping, so that I can select a key elements, like beginning of the movie, current position or a particular scene when I select some button on the menu?

What are the meanings of all those commands, their parameters etc (simple explanations please :)), what command there are that can be used for moving through the dvd structure that a beginner like me can use, etc etc...

I didn't find in any forums here some explanation of how to rework the menus or what tool to use to easily modify existing or create your own menus, so I think my questions here are same many of us have.

Cheers, Andrea

I have been able to do some really useful things in ifoedit but it is hard to know what to change. Yesterday I downloaded pgcedit and in 5 minutes I fixed what I had failed to in 11/2 hours with ifoedit. It may be a more complex program for some tasks but for others its easier. Try using trace mode and stepping through. You will probably find something strange when you hit the menu command for that chapter. If you right click it you might get a way to make it behave like the others.

Take this advice with the understanding it won't be exctly right as I just downloaded the program
