Hi. New poster, havent been to the site for a long time.

I use VirtualDub-MPEG2 1.5.10(build 18250/release), and I am having a problem with creating clips from .vob files.

I rip the .vob files from my dvd's, to create clips of well established hollywood actresses au natural in various movies. Using this program, I have noticed that sometimes I cannot get the audio/video to sync up using the audio skew correction, and this has become irritating. I rip chapters using SmartRipper 2.41, with AC3 audio, usually as 0x80 or 0x81. Sometimes, they work fine and I can make the clips without incident, but sometimes they dont. When I open the vob files with various media players, they play in sync.

So, my question is, what is the best way to sync up these vob files, using the source AC3 audio, without lossing any audio, or changing how it sounds:confused:

If your VOBs have mixed 3:2 and non-3:2 content, then VirtualDub MPEG2 is not for you. It does not honor the pulldown flags, causing audio desync. DGMPGDec would be the tool of choice in such cases.

Even if you have consistent 3:2, you'd have to be careful to get the frame rate correct, because ignoring the pulldown is going to change it.

So, is there a good guide on how to use this. Can I use it with VirtualDub MPEG2, because it is not a stand alone editor.

If you are more of a "one-click" kind of a guy, take a look at GordianKnot. It automates the whole DGMPGDec process and adds lots of other useful functionality. But pedal-to-the-metal guys use it directly.

Also, you can find guides by googling for "DGMPGDec guides".
