Taiyo Yuden - $33.30 for 100 DVD-R 4x

I saw this at Bens and thought this was definitely worth mentioning. The title says it all. The price is actually $37.00 for 100 pack but you can apply this coupon "DNS10" at checkout and it will automatically take an additional 10% off. For Taiyos this is one of the best prices i've seen. I almost bought them last week for $38 shipped, so i'm glad I waited. ;)

Dang, this would come along now. Just bought a couple 50-packs of RiData (RICOHJPN01) from Newegg for $20.49/spool plus $3.50 shipping each one. Bought separately because I wasn't sure who was the maker of the media at first.

Very decent media, but Taiyo Yuden should be even more decent (& cheaper). Grrr...:angry:

Edit -- actually I take this back, these Taiyo Yudens are DVD-R (not +R), right? I'm a +R type of guy, so maybe I did OK after all... ;)

In my opinion, the price is a bit too good to be true ... and yes, fake TYs have been sighted, check e.g. cdfreaks.

I am not saying they _are_ fake ... just be careful.

I thought they might be fakes too, but the fakes I've seen are all 8x and these are advertised as 4x. Perhaps it's to throw people off and make them less suspicious of the low price. I've also heard that TY hasn't made 4x discs in a while, so that's another red flag.

I've had problems with Shop4Tech's customer service in the past, but I decided to give them another shot. I'm going to keep my eye on this and if I see reports of them being fake I will refuse delivery.

I go these today and they are genuine TYs. It looks like several places have these cheap 4x TYs. Shop4tech, Supermediastore, ect. People say they burn at 8x, but I only have a 4x burner so I can't confirm that.

I got 100 from Supermediastore around Xmas and every disc has been PERFECT. Burned at 4x on an old 105. The ones I got are real - you can tell just by looking at them. The surface is perfect, no dye spotting, edges are perfect. They are obviously very high quality dics

I'm going back for more this week!
