I have been converting AAC to WAV to OGG originally then I grabed the encoder for vorbis for foobar2000. Now I seem to have an issue with controling the encoding with foobar2000. Can't win can I?

Hmmm I've got foobar2000 working vunderbar now and encoding happily. Save I'm not happy with the encoding. Elaborating some now :) I can't seem to find a different Q factor to pick other than between 4 and 6 or add in variations on the bit encoding with foobar2K is this an endemic problem that one has to live with in foobar's gui? Or is there hope of changing this to something else? (IE I need < 20 meg files and I'm getting 20.8 meg files now :) ).

Should I instead convert to raw WAV then use besweet (and yet another step) to convert to OGG? It seems so simple to reduce the Q a bit (sigh). :)

fb2k provides natively vorbis encoder. In addition, you can modify the q value as you want. (goes to Foobar2000 --> Preferences --> Diskwriter). In the Output Presets, search Ogg Vorbis : -q 6.00 and click on "Edit" button to enable the changes :

Move the slidebar to change this value. Note that you can't specify the target filesize. This is the beauty of vbr mode...;)
