View Full Version : Encoding a section of a DVD

Hi,

I am very familiar with ripping and encoding full dvds using CCE, but I am after only a small section.

I have a dvd of music videos, and I only want to rip and encode one of them.

There is not a seperate file for each one, so I am guessing I need to rip a larger section, cut it and encode what I want.

Can anyone put me in the direction of what software I need, or if there are any good guides on the subject.

Thanks a lot.

this greatly depends on the destination format you want to have it in... do you want it to again be on DVD, or on SVCD? or do you rather want it in avi format??

I would rather it be in avi/mpeg as a stand alone file.

I have just had a go with limited results - ripping with DVD Shrink, splitting to video and audio files with rejig, running the video through avisynth etc to cce and muxing with audio again.

actually if you want to have it as a divx/xvid video (in an avi container) there are much easier ways to accomplish what you want...

basically rip with dvddecrypter (or dvdshrink) - then create a d2v project with dgindex limited to the section of the dvd you want (with the [ and ] buttons) and then encode either via avisynth and virtualdub(mod) or with gknot...
