Digital Camera

I'm in the market to buy a digital camera since our only camera has been a Sony Mavica which still works great, but isn't clear enough.

I'm looking to take pictures of pretty good resolution, 1024 X 768 or the likes...I'm pretty sure I don't need a 10Mega Pixel camera, but I'm not exactly positive of what I need. I would like the camera to use SD cards since I have several and been a good camera for taking detailed pictures of circuitry, eBay photos, etc. etc. Since I don't know what good deals are or good cameras, I thought I might ask you guys.
