Hi all, this is my first post here! :D Nice to meet you.
I'm asking for some help about encoding DivX and/or XviD videos for this portable handheld videogame system. If you don't know what is this GP32 thing, go and search in google. It's specially good because it's opensource! Yes, it's possible to develop what you want. You can find emulators, mp3/wma/ogg players, video players, some ports (gp32linux, doom, quake, ...).
I have looked over this forums, but I didn't find any topic about this. Sorry if I repeated theme
Well, my intention is to get the higher quality, but using low bitrates. The only codecs able to use are:
VIDEO CODEC
Divx 4.12
Xvid Codec 04102002-1 Koepi's build
AUDIO CODEC
MPEG Layer-3
Approximately, to get you an idea, this is moreless what you can get with different clockspeeds and resolutions/framerate.
120Mhz 320*240 / 12fps or 320*176 / 15fps
133Mhz 320*240 / 15fps
150Mhz 320*176 / 24fps
166Mhz 320*240 / 24fps
This settings using audio at 20-32kbit/second aprox.
Some people managed to get 320x176, 18fps @ 133Mhz at this website http://www.btinternet.com/%7Ewaystation/gpcin.html (there are some tutorials and samples too)
The maximum video size cannot be over 125MB (it uses 128 Mb SMC as storage, and need some space for software).
I don't know exactly how to manage advanced compression settings, like quantization matrix and others.
I will really apreciate any comments or suggestions. What is better at low kbps? DivX/XviD? And CPU usage at playing? Anyone with GP32 here can post their settings?
Thankyou very much in advance :D
