View Full Version : how to remove chapters?

I have an anime DVD where there are 6 chapters. The problem with the DVD is that there is an "authoring" problem (not sure about this). chapters 1 to 4 works fine. Chapters 5 and 6 are repeats of chapter 4. If I'm in chapter 4 and I press the forward button, nothing happens.
what I'm hoping is that chapter 4 is finished, I can press the forward button and the DVD plays the next VTS.
IS there a way to fix this? thanks
ps. This is an episodic DVD.

You may try to fix the problem with PgcEdit.
To edit the chapters, go to the PGC Editor, and click on the "Edit Chapter (PTT) Table" button.
Note that the Next Chapter button of the remote doesn't go to the next chapter, but to the next Program.
You may have to edit the program table as well. To insert or remove a program, just click on the "Prog." buttons in the cell table (which is also in the PGC Editor window.)
Take care. If you remove a program, you must also remove the chapter(s) pointing to it, or your player may crash when you select that chapter.
Also, be sure that there are no VM commands pointing to a removed program or chapter! Check the commands in the menu buttons as well!
Also, if you like to go to the next title (or return to the menu) when you press the Next Chapter button when playing the last chapter of a title, you may set the "NextPGCN link" (also in the Pgc Editor window) to the number of the current PGC. For example, if your PGC is "VTST 1, 3", then set the NextPGCN link to 3.

I have edited the PTT table. But if want chapter 5 to become a jump to the next VTS, must I retain chapter 5?

I do not understand this instruction. Where can I see this "prog." buttons?

How do I remove a chapter after removing a program?

How do I know that there are VM commands for the chapters that I want deleted?
Also, if you like to go to the next title (or return to the menu) when you press the Next Chapter button when playing the last chapter of a title, you may set the "NextPGCN link" (also in the Pgc Editor window) to the number of the current PGC. Here's a sample of the VTS (see attached file).
Can you guide me so that after reaching chapter 4 and pressing the forward button, the DVD plays the next VTS (this is an episodic DVD)

I also tried this guide without much luck -> http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=256892#post256892. :|
I didn't delete any programs though as there are only 4 which corresponds to the 4 chapters that are valid.

I do not understand this instruction. Where can I see this "prog." buttons?PGC Editor -> Cell Table (in the lower right part of the window), Prog column. The buttons labels are the program numbers for each cell, or blank if no program is assigned. If I understand correctly your problem, you don't have to modify the programs numbers.
How do I remove a chapter after removing a program?Go to the chapter editor, and click "Delete Last Chapter".
How do I know that there are VM commands for the chapters that I want deleted?Right click on the Titls's PGC in the PGC Selector pane of the main window, and select "Go to Calling Command". In the window that pops up, search for JumpVTS_PTT and LinkPTT commands.
Can you guide me so that after reaching chapter 4 and pressing the forward button, the DVD plays the next VTS (this is an episodic DVD) If you delete chapter 5 and 6, and set the NextPGCN link to the number of the current PGC, you will continue whatever the DVD is supposed to do when you use the Next Chapter button.

Not sure where to do this.
In the left side of the screen, do I doubleclick on "VTS 2, 1"? "VTS 2, 1" is the main video for that VTS and it's length is 22 minutes as displayed in PGCEdit.
If I doubleclick "VTS 2, 1", a new set of commands is displayed.
There are several GPRM. It would be much clearer if a mod approves my attached. :| (just pmed one so it gets approved)

When you say "set the NextPGCN link to the number of the current PGC", current PGC would be 4 in my case or would it be 1?

I hope I've read the previous posts but have you tried blanking Chapter 5 and 6?

I have read rolz posts and it's too technical for me. Plus the fact I don't use pgcedit often. So when he mentioned things like "Edit PTT table", I couldn't understand it immediately.
(No offense to rolz) It's not like one of your guides where screenshots are provided and/or steps are clearly explained.
Chapters 4, 5 and 6 (according to the "Edit PTT table" in PGCedit") all points to program 4. I assumed that if I blank the chapters 5 and 6 say using vobblanker, it'll also blank chapter 4. right?
Plus the fact that when I am in chapter 4, pressing the forward button in the remote or in IFOEdit DVD play preview doesn't do anything.

VobBlanker can blank at cell level. Are chapter 5 and 6 holding the same VOB and Cell ID as chapter 4? If so, you can change them with VidChanger.

When I open VTS_02 in ifoedit, the PGC (program chain) only displays 4 chapters. But when the DVD is played in IFOEDIT "DVD play" feature or burned into a DVD-RW, there are 6 chapters for VTS_02.

When you say "set the NextPGCN link to the number of the current PGC", current PGC would be 4 in my case or would it be 1? "VTS 2, 1" means PGC 1 in titleset 2. So, your PGC number is 1.
Step by step explanation.
1) Load your DVD. :)
2) Double click on "VTS 2, 1". The PGC Editor is opened.
3) Change the NextPGC link (in the upper left corner) to your PGC number, ie 1. (It is probably originally 0.)
4) Click on the "Edit Chapter (PTT) Table" button, in the lower part of the window. A new window is opened.
5) Click twice on the "Delete Last Chapter" button to remove chapters 6 and 5.
6) Close both windows by clicking on OK.
7) Save and test.
