I'm converting Spaced! from the Region 2 copy using DVD-Decryper and InstantCopy.
For almost all the DVD Players I use, it just works great. No issues at all. They're not Region Free, but they play DVD-R's well.
I've given a friend my copy but it isn't playing on his player which typically plays DVD-R's. I'm assuming this has something to do with the PAL format but I am just curious if this is common or rare?
I've tried search but most of the PAL to NTSC discussions have been at the 10,000 foot level and I'm still swinging from the trees.

(Brilliant show!)
If his player cannot play PAL, you have to manually re-encode the video portion of the dvd to the NTSC format, re-multiplex the audio and re-build the new dvd.
Use the search option in the forums, there are two or three relevant threads that deal with this (I have converted Spaced myself for someone in Canada that ordered it from the UK, it took some hours to do)
Email me if you want some more specific instructions...

a friend just last week told me that sony dvd players are paticulary picking if there is not a region set on the recorded dvd. Make sure to set a region.

Nero Vision Express has a PAL/NTSC conversion but it is very finicky.

"Nero Vision Express has a PAL/NTSC conversion but it is very finicky."
According to the latest Nero release notes, it had a glitch and was corrected in the latest version.

@mrbass
I have a SONY, albeit an old one and it plays region free DVDs just fine. Maybe some of the newer ones are picky.
@richk50
I hope it works now :)

Please let me know how it works, if you try it.
My DVD players play both formats and I'm too lazy to figure out how to do it.
