vobblanker problem

Hi,

I'm using Vobblanker to delete chapters from a dvd I want to back-up.
The resulting DVD plays fine on my computer, but there are problems when playing it on my stand-alone:
The menu's are all ok, but when I select a certain chapter, I'm directed to the wrong timepoint in the movie...
This problem does not occur when navigating the menu's on my computer.

Is there something I can do about this?

I'm assuming you are blanking (not deleting) cells (not chapters) in titles domain. Is it? How are you doing it?
If yes try unchecking both "change post into precommands" checkboxes.

Yes, blanking cells in titles domain.
I'm just using the default Vobblanker settings.
I will try unchecking "change post into precommands"...

Sorry, I gave you a wrong clue... Blanking cells does not call the ChangePostIntoPreCommand method, only blanking PGCs does it.

So, if you really are only blanking cells, the problem will be a different one.

Well, I am blanking cells AND PGC's.
But the fix you mentioned still didn't work.
During playback on stand-alone, when selecting chapters in the menu, it takes me to the wrong places. Pressing "Play Movie" takes me to another part of the menu...etc
As I said, no problem with computer playback...

Any other ideas?

Bookwurm, have you tried checking the "fixed relapsed time" er bit? (Don't laff Blutach!) I have attempted to blank a couple of cells within a movie without seemingly any hiccup....of course with that fix relapsed time box checked.

Just to clarify:

"Fixed elapsed time replacing cells" only affects to "replaced cells", not to blanked ones.

Even more, it is not affecting when replacing PGCs.

By the way bookwurm, one of our renowned experts here, Jeanl, is also the proud owner of a Cyberhome standalone player which I believe can play anything other than an Oreo cookie. :D

Honestly, I do not see anything strange in the IFOs, but they are complex, so I can be missing something

Could be a problem of a bad media or bad burning?. Sometimes I have problems in my settop although the DVDR is perfect.

Other ideas to try are:
- Get VTS sectors. If the DVD is OK, no changes should be done by IFOEdit (unless you are using pgcEdit 32k gap)
- An IFOEdit's mock strip (both, in menus and titles domains)

Sorry, I don't have more ideas...

Thanks for looking.
I don't think it's media (fuji dvd+r). All the material is on the disc and is readable by my standalone (I can ffd and rewind to the right place). It's just that the menu's don't take me to the correct position in the movie. That kind of defeats the purpose of menus then...(which I absolutely want)

I will try the "get VTS sectors" and "mock strip". Would have liked to avoid doing that...

Another question: When blanking cells, it's impossible to strip audio tracks at the same time?

I'm not an expert (I wish!) and I don't have a cyberhome player (I have a sampo, which does not play Oreo cookies either - I know, I tried :D )

@bookwurm, IFOedit seems to be medicine man for mis-behaving dvd files...

@Jeanl, Empire Strikes Back 640mb menu was reduced to 142mb last night. I chose the landing pad one, zee kewlest :p . I have been using the latest RECODE lately instead of DVDshrink. Still wondering if there is any improvement(should be)....

Well, tried it, and it didn't help...
And the silly thing is that I have the same problem with other discs. So not just one disc...

@bookwurm: I hope you are not giving up this great opportunity to be addicted in dvd re-authoring. You may also want to take a shot with PGCedit's greatest function, tracing the flow of your chapters. To do so you need to read Jeanl's or 2COOL's guides on the subject matter.
