Hello all,

Tonight I made a capture of a TV show using the PVA format in ProgDVB 4.48. No problems appeared during the recording whatsoever. However, upon attempting to play back the recorded file afterwards in Media Player Classic, there was severe corruption present, and the audio was also similarly corrupted (lots of annoying skipping sounds). Playback in Windows Media Player was fine, video-wise, but was completely missing the audio.

Attempting to demux in PVAStrumento led to many of the following errors:

ALERT> Audio misalignement (at start of chunk) 10:04:01.692

Performing a demux operation on the PVA file in ProjectX also yielded lots of errors, though worded differently (I assume they have a similar meaning but I am no expert on the nitty-gritty of this stuff):

GOP# 1, PES_header and extension found in ES, filled with zero... (GOP offs. 197045)

So, although the video stream is fine, the audio stream appears to be beyond recovery, which is a shame. As it happens, I noticed that in the DVB -> DixX guide page about ProgDVB (http://www.doom9.org/DigiTV/progdvb.htm), it suggests to use PVA - perhaps it may be wise to recommend recording using the "mpeg2" option in Record Options instead.

I just did a short test recording of something in it and it played back + demuxed in ProjectX without trouble. Should've done a test record with PVA too though, before the thing I was recording started but, never mind. It's not a great big loss I suppose, since it will probably be repeated.

EDIT: I see the change I have recommended has been met with a great deal of response :P

This is just to show your post was read.

I too had corrupted PVA recordings. Beyong recovery by ProjectX. (not tested las version)

Doom9 advised to record in PVA instead of MPEG-2 :(
