Hi. This is a common one.
In fact if you looked at the top three threads in this forum at the time of your post, you would have seen this one.

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86247

You have "Do not convert audio" checked in the audio tab. Your avi probably has mp3 audio which is allowed for DVD, so if you don't convert it the process will fail.

Uncheck this box, try again and it will all run smoothly (probably :) )

hi,

thanks for the quick reply.

sorry but it's hard to search for the right threads in this forum due to the sheer amount of posts (you can spend hours...).

i was actually thinking of mp3 being a problem myself.

but how about the audio on the dvd: doesn't it need to be ac3?

thanks again.

marty

No, audio doesn't have to be ac3 on DVD. The mp2 audio that AVI2DVD will create will work just fine, not really NTSC legal, but should work OK nevertheless.

If you follow the AVI sticky you shouldn't have any problems.
