Sorry to bother you guys with this... and I guess I should really know of such a tool already but...
Is there a tool that allows you "back-up" an entire audio CD to your hard-disc in the form of an .ISO file or similar file. That can be mounted using DAEMON tools?

Although I'm not in windows at the moment and am unable to check, I would try exact audio copy (http://exactaudiocopy.de) or burnatonce (http://www.burnatonce.com).

I don't know about burnatonce, but I can vouch for Exact Audio Copy. It's an excellent program that offers a variety of ripping methods including creating an image file with a cue sheet.

Thanks KpeX,
I tried both of your suggestions and it seems as though "Exact Audio Copy" will be able to do what I require, although it does seem to operate quite a bit slower than "BurnAtOnce"
ursamtl,
As a matter of interest, which version of "Exact Audio Copy" are you using?
I downloaded and installed v0.95 prebeta 5. Should I be using this version?

I've been using prebeta 4 and it's worked fine for me. Yes, it's a bit slower than some others, but this is for error checking, so I don't mind.

I've just tried "backing-up" an 6Ch DTS audio CD.
And after mounting it with DAEMON tools I got it to play perfectly using my Sigma Xcard (with TVedia).
Normally, playing such disc's via my CD/DVD drives has presented problems :(
But this is great :D

It does error checking that no other audio CD ripper does, and that's why it's a bit of a religion for some people. There's a lot of information on hydrogenaudio.org and the EAC forums about this and why it's a superior ripper.

Daphy,
Check your ASPI settings, etc. I have used EAC with two different LG DVD burners. I recall at first having problems with one of them (I can't remember which one), but after I played with different settings, I got it to work fine.

Hi Steve,
I always use the automatic detection, it only founds the virtual drives on my system - what aspi settings did you mean

If I recall correctly, I went to the Adaptec web site and downloaded the latest ASPI drivers for Windows (v. 4.712 or something like that).
I just checked my copy of EAC here at work and noticed the settings in General options, Interface tab. I have the "Native Windows..." option turned off and ASPI turned on, so perhaps it's that.
Steve.

A few days ago, owners of the Siemssen SCO 5000 ND Mpeg4/DVD player were treated to a firmware upgrade that included support for: -
- AUTOPLAY for ISO File-CD or -DVD So is it possible to "back-up" audio CD's to ISO?
Cheers

Most likely what they're talking about is the ability to play back ISO format MP3 discs. For example, my home DVD player will play back an ISO disc of MP3s. It has to be ISO and not UDF, and in my case, the MP3s have to be CBR encoded and 192bits/sec or lower. This doesn't mean it plays back ISO discs with regular PCM data. It may, but I've never tried it.
