In Nero video is stream 3 and in MeGUI it is stream 1.
By the way: I learned somewhere that it is better when audio is stream 1 and when it is added first to container with mp4creator :)

in case you have a video only .mp4, isn't the only track automatically track1?

Not in Nero, there it is always track 3 :). No matter if only the video or the video with audio: Video is always 3!
In the moment you can add raw and avi from MeGui in Input 6 and mp4 from everywhere (so from MeGUI) in Input 5.
So itīs easy to add everything you want to videos from MeGUI. So do I with my videoīs.

The newest is version 0.5, build 35870
JoeBG

New version build 32675
This is a really bugfix version:
- add: support for NTSC: you can now choose the framerate you want
- bugfix: Input 6 was not stable. Now you can add: raw streams (*.m4v, h264, what you want) and avi and mp4 video streams from Nero or MeGUI.
New version is a beta, so please test. You can get it with all needed tools on: http://mp4muxer.movie2digital.com/

This build don't creating CompleteVideo.mp4. Wrote in log-window that everything is fine, but i don't have any usable *.mp4 files. All temporary files are present.
Maybe problem is in Mp4Box...

See post above. Actual build is 32675. 35870 had bugs with mp4 or avi in input 6. But the problem is solved now with 32675. :)

mp4creator does the muxing job for the video and newest Version has defenitly no problems with b-frames. So the question is, which version of x264 you use - the older ones created this choppy playback. You first muxed into avi?

I've tested a newest build, and it working fine. Thnx a lot.
But what is the new option "is raw". Than i enabled it, CompleteVideo.mp4 don't creating....again.
And what a difference between ASP Extraction Method 1 & Method 2

"Cannot allocate memory because no size has been set."
That's the message I get when I try to play any resulting MP4 from mp4muxer. I'm using all the files on the download site... Am I doing something wrong?
It plays only in recode (not WMP, not graphedit) with slight sound lag.

When you add a raw stream in input 6 (*.264, *.m4v. *.xvid) then have to mark this. If not, donīt enable it.

1 is extraction of ASP from avi with mpeg4iptools and 2 is with mp4box. Both works fine.
@ DeathTheSheep
Did you set a framerate?
Doom9

btw, now that you can see what I meant with the overhead stats suggestion a while back (run an mp4 job in MeGUI and have a look at mp4stats.txt), it would be greatly beneficial to the communicat if mp4muxer did the same.. the more empirical data we can collect, the better we can derive accurate mp4 overhead values.

Framerate? Yeah, 11.988. The file does play in Nero Showtime with a slight lag. However, it does not work with graphedit or WMP or anything else. Does it simply not accept 11.988 as a framerate? And the resulting file doesn't play on Showtime Mobile either.
Wierd. What's goin' on?

You can choose between the following frames/second in mp4muxer: 15, 23.978, 25, 29.90. Hope you chooosed the right one for your video :)
I really testet again all possible avi inputs with the muxer from x264 in Virtual Dub Mod or from MeGui and they all work fine. If it does not work with your avi, please donīt blame the muxer http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/frech/d025.gif

hi JoeBG,
thanks for your great GUI.
A few notes / suggestions:
Why does the final .mp4 always end up with that dummy sub included (not that it causes some problems, i can always delete that track with mp4UI) ?
What do you think about introducing an AVC/ASP option for the AVI input-> less temp files needed ?
If the output directory as set in the config section, does not exist anymore mp4muxer doesnt bother to create a new one nore does it output a "proper" error ;).
Adding a 2nd right click option to the logwindow (copy), might be useful although Ctrl+C works.
According to the webpage Audio1 also supports Vorbis (i assume Ogg is vorbis only) but in the open file box there is no .ogg entry.
concerning http://mp4muxer.movie2digital.de/:
Could you mention the latest version numbers of the required mpeg4iptools & mp4box so people will now when they have to update ?
A "useful links" section might be handy e.g. free dshow filters for mp4
parser/splitter: http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/
a/v decoder: http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=Getting+ffdshow
Please add this tool http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=85229 to your site as muxing mpeg4 simple profile video (divx3) is also possible now besides ASP. (or even make your GUI use it :) )
keep up the good work

Hi Planet 1,
Iīm really not the programmer of the mp4muxer. So we have to ask MrBlasche for the new features, which are
- AVC/ASP option for the AVI input: I donīt think that this is a good idea, because mp4muxer should work for every user and not everyone knows the difference :)
- dummy sub: advanced players do not recognize this. But we need it for the internal "streaming" process (=make the file totally streamable)
- downloads from mp4muxer (http://mp4muxer.movie2digital.com/) are always with the newest tools. But there is noone with http skills to change the names of the downloads
- direct show filters do not belong to this topic
- for the other things we have to contact MrBlaschke

The basic idea was, to start the encoder and building a chapter.mp4 (graphedit with Nero/new 3ivx muxer) while the encoder is working - but now you can use this option for everything or do not use it, itīs not mandatory.
That's good.
I want to add chapters here, but don't know, in which format they have to be (any recommendation?) and how to create them?
(I don't have 3ivx installed)
JoeBG

You have to create a chapter.mp4 with Graphedit:
- open Graphedit and Filters/add Fillter: You have to add the Nero AVC muxer and the Nero AVC file writer
- you have to add the chapters manuelly into the muxer and connect him with the file writer
- then press "start" and a chapter.mp4 will get created in less than a second. You can add this into input 5 in the mp4muxer.

Thanks for your reply.
Another problem:
I tried to mux two subtitles and two audio files into mp4 with mp4muxer, but after the muxing process there is no completevideo.mp4-file created, only the tmp.mp4-files but without subtitles. What's wrong?
I think its a similar problem as mentioned by another user on the german gleitz-board.
I use build 32675 of mp4muxer with the latest tools provided on your download-site..
JoeBG

The only problem I know is to mux Nero ASP.mp4 in input 6. That this is only possible in input 5 with mp4muxer is known from the first release. We do not know how to demus Nero ASP.mp4 to raw ( Nero AVC.mp4) is no problem.
I always mux 2 languages, 2 subtitels, one Chapter.mp4 and one raw stream from MeGUI with the muxer and never had a problem. I testet again all kinds of GordianKnot.aviīs and Nero AVC.mp4 and never had a problem. So without more informations, I would think you tried to mux ASP.mp4 from Nero in input 6.

I used build 32675 with the tools provided on your download site and muxed as followed:
Input 1.) German Audio.mp4
Input 2.) Audio Comment.mp4
Input 3.) Forced Subs.srt
Input 4.) Normal Subs.srt
Input 5.) Chapter.mp4
Input 6.) Xvid.avi
Result:
Mp4muxer doesn't create a "CompleteVideo.mp4", although its claimed in the Log-File. Muxing progress only comes to the tmpf4.mp4 without subs.
Btw. Trying to mux a Nero.mp4 including vobsubs in input 5, the vobsubs are gone! Is it normal? (but its the same with "MP4BoxGUI", so don't recognising and muxing vobsubs might be a general problem with mp4box?)
JoeBG
28th March 2005, 13:54
I testet you constellation and the mistake must be in the *.srt file. I only get the same results with a wrong *.srt file. mp4box gives out the following: invalid file.
My testfile was a empty *.srt file. The normal srt files still worked with your xvid.avi, aac.mp4, chapter.mp4 constellation. So please check the subs :)

I tried to mux AVC-video (Nero mp4) and HE-AAC (Nero mp4).
If I selected AVC in input-6 - in Completevideo.mp4 i have only a sound!
If I selected AVC in intup-5 - in the end I have an error, somethins about "divided by 0"...i don't remember exactly. But Completevideo.mp4-file is playable....and tmpf4-file is playable to, both with audio present.
Am I wrong to select my AVC-video file in Input-6 ?
And about HE-AAC. In a final muxed file HE-AAC-sound is not detected as HE, but only as AAC in all players(NeroShow Time and MPC). But they (players) playing a sound with a twice bigger bitrate (64 -> 128). Is this OK?

This only happens ich you flag it as raw.

This happens for me too. I really donīt know why, but Iīm looking for the answer. But use CompleteVideo.mp4, itīs totally streamable and tmpf4 is not :)

I donīt know what your players do ;) But HE AAC is not flagged as He AAC, thatīs right (would make the muxer more less easy), but I really donīt know any player which has any problems with this. No Direct Show Player, mplayer (which I use) has no problem and vlc also works fine with this.

I've tried to mux only with audio but no subtitles.
And no matter how many audio tracks are muxed (1 or 2, stereo or 5.1) - video stream is always muxed in input 3.
Input 2 - BIFS
Input 1 - Some other information.

Then it should work perfect with the muxer. I tested it again and a Nero Digital Video in input 6 gets muxed in CompleteVideo without any problems. Thatīs also what many users of the muxer do because the sound from Nero Digital itself is not very good. Most users create the sound with foobar or Be Sweet, many of them the video with Nero Digital and a few also create ttxt Subtitels. I think the only one who creates chapters is me ;)

No, you're not the only one. I do too ;)
But still can't get a working "CompleteVideo.mp4" when trying to mux subs with mp4muxer. I don't know why...
However, mp4boxgui works, so it might be a problem with mp4creator used in mp4muxer?
JoeBG

mp4muxer uses mp4box for muxing the subs ;) So it is already a mistake in the other streams ;)

I think i discovered a reason, why HE-AAC sound muxed by mp4muxer is not detected as HE, but as LC (i.e. CoreAAC showing AAC LC instead of AAC+SBR).
The Problem is in mp4iptools, which storing HE-AAC sound extracted from mp4-container in AAC-container, which isn't suitable for storing AAC sound.
I think is better to storing extracted sound in m4a-container as MKVmerge do...but this not the mp4muxer developers problem ;)

the mpeg-4 standard defines three ways how he-aac gets stored in .mp4:
1) explicitely signal he-aac (he-aac profile is used, which means a lc-aac only player shouldnt be able to handle the file)
2) explicitaly and backwards compatible signal he-aac, which means a lc-aac profile gets signalled (lc-aac decoder can handle the file as lc-aac), but signal he-aac somewhere else (dunno know where now :D ), thats how nero produces its he-aac .mp4 files
3) dont signal he-aac at all and let the decoder detect it on its own
mp4creator uses method 3) so to say, its doesnt signal he-aac at all, which is allowed by the specs
mp4box handles all three options (with the -sbr and -sbrx option)

I think mp4muxer deserves an update:
mp4box can handle raw avc now (imho better than mp4creator ;) ).
muxing mpeg4-asp with latest tools doesnt work as it should anymore.
http://www.aziendeassociate.it/cd.asp?dir=/gpac/dev
http://www.aziendeassociate.it/cd.asp?dir=/mpeg4iptools
.ogg can be added savely to the GUI now - since Haali's mp4 splitter supports vorbis (2ch & 6ch).

here some small 'requests' for mp4muxer:
1. include Archange (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86870), which allows to change the aspect ratio of a mp4(avc) file.
2. include aacgain ( http://altosdesign.com/aacgain/ )
3. support http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1172028&group_id=84101&atid=571741

In the moment MrBlaschke is not available, he has to do more job-related engagements. But we have many new ideas in mind.
- new mp4box makes muxing easier with less tempfiles and with better handling of some muxing problems
- He-AAC flagging
- Chaptersupport
I really want a solution for the dumpster integration. Hope MrBlaschke will find a way to make it possible.
@ Selur
I never needed any of this tools. What makes it desirable for MrBlaschke to look for solutions?

I've been thinking of moving to mp4box in MeGUI myself. This would offer a bunch of additional options like multiple audio tracks (though I'm not going to offer the use of Vorbis and the likes, only audio tracks that MP4 capable standalones will be able to play), subs, chapter and language signalling (and perhaps AR flagging). But, using a bunch of tools is a pain in the ass, so I will wait until mp4box can do all that reliably... and I figure the programmer of mp4muxer would feel just the same.
