I recently backed up a movie (Underworld). When I went to play it on my stand alone player, it jumped and skipped towards the very end of the movie. I was using cheap media so I am pretty sure that is what caused the problem. I then tried using DVD Decrypter in ISO mode to rip the bad disc back to my hard drive to see if I would get read errors and I didn't. I mounted in Daemon tools and it played fine. I had a very old disc that I wanted to backup because it was so scratched, my burner would not read it but my standalone had no problems. I was just wondering if somebody could explain this. I would figure my burner would have the same problem my standalone had if it was bad media or a bad burn.

Hi videofan,

more and more newer standalones are more tolerant which means they will play anything short of a Oreo cookie(quote stolen from Maksaa). I read that Sony is one of those that is quite stringent to compliancy.
Decrypter is pretty good at recovery. There seem to nothing much any other program can cure if Decrypter can't. I am happy for you that you discovered the dying disk on time.
