hi,
i was wondering if there is any software i can buy (the price really doesn't matter ;) ) that does the conversion from avi to dvd for me?
I want to include mpeg4 subs and haven't found any package yet (e.g. ulead studio, nero vision, etc.) that provides this option.
any suggestions?
thanks

I would suggest DVD2SVCD (http://www.dvd2dvd.org/)

hi,
thanks for your reply.
i was thinking of a automated solution that works with just a few clicks.
doom9's dvd2svcd guide for avi2dvd format conversion is quite complicated, as far as i'm concerned, especially, when it comes to subtitles.
i would also like to put two avi movies on one dvd+r.
anyway, i will just have to try my best with the cce guide, although i never really know what i'm doing.
cheers

dvd2svcd is more or less 1 click solution once you've configured it properly for the 1st time :)

hi,
but how about putting several movies on one dvd?
is it possible?
and how do you add external subtitles in d2s? i've read the thread http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40683 but i don't get it.
is there no commercial software that can do it? i'm happy to pay for a nice and easy solution...
thanks

More movies on one disc is not supported. I don't know any one-click solutions, that would do that. Anyway, we like quality, so there won't be any solutions like that. However it is possible, but you have to author manually.
External subtitles: click on START button and select ADD EXTERNAL SUBTITLES.

hi,
but what are the one-click solutions and which of them support subs?
i don't really like using d2s with cce beacause it's dead slow and i don't care so much for quality because doing a conversion from mpeg4 to mpeg2 you lose a lot of quality in any case.
thanks for your help anyway :) .

Hey, tell me something faster! I can convert an avi to DVD in 2-2,5 hours.
Anyway, D2S is a one-click solution, and - as I said - it supports subtitles. You can add them from .srt (SubRip) or .sub (microDVD) formats.

Hey Marty, hang on for a stable version of Avi2Dvd by trustfm (freeware) http://www.trustfm.net/divx/Software/Avi2Dvd.html
Also you might want to check The FilmMachine (freeware)http://members.home.nl/thefilmmachine/
If speed is your top priority then have a look at WinAVI Video Converter ($29.95) http://www.winavi.com/video-converter.htm
No subs support though
