Hi,
Somebody gave some files to me to try and playback, and I have no idea what type of file they are, or how to play they back. Apparently, they're from some sort of slow time-lapse surveillance camera system, and he mentioned something about mpeg-4 (although I'm not sure about this - he may have misheard, and he seems to have little idea about computers).

I attempted playing via vlc (videolan), and got zippo - no time, file seems to play for 10 seconds outputting nothing (vlc seems to do this for all file types it doesn't recognise). The GNU file command on my linux box just output "data" as the type.
Would anybody have any idea what type of files these are, how to play them back, or how to find out? (If it would help, I can upload to a server...lot of data though).
