I've tried all of the advice I've found in my searching this forum, but I can't seem to lick this Line21 information file error.

I know my problem is from using ReJig, instead of CCE, I have found where the Line21 switch is in the data editor of Scenarist, but there is no checkbox, it's greyed out, and says Yes.

I've tried doing data -> placeholder, and that allows me to uncheck the box, however, when I do placeholder -> data, the box comes back.

So, no problem - I looked in the Scenaid SCP file for Line21, and sure enough, there it was.

I changed it to No, and removed the path to the Line21 information file.

This, I believe, should have solved my problem. But noooo...

I'm still getting a Wrong Line21 Information File on the SAME track as before, even though the data editor now shows NO for Line21.

Am I totally insane?
Ok - so I am - but HOW do I fix it?

Thanks for letting me vent...

foxmid,

deep breaths .... calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean ... :D

hmmm ... well, unfortunately i am about as much use to you as wet sock, as;
a) i live in pal land and as such do not have closed captions, so my knowledge in that area is limited to say the least ...
and
b) i have never used rejig for anything other than testing.

out of interest though, beyond the fact that it is fast and free is there another reason for using rejig? the reason i ask, is that with trahalds new batchencoder, you can use QuEnc to encode your video, which, although a lot slower than rejig, it *should* give you much better results, and may fix this Line21 error.

anyways, just a thought till someone smarter comes along and explains how to fix it correctly.

good luck

I know, ReJig is not the prefered method, I do use CCE most of the time, but sometimes I'm lazy.

I went back to the SCP file and removed ALL Line21=Yes lines, thinking maybe it was lying about where the problem was... Same problem. If I would have just re-encoded the main movie, I'd be able to test it right now, since it would have only taken while I was sleeping.

I just wish I knew what the deal was. I'm getting to the point where I can figure most of these errors out on my own, I spent a few hours yesterday trying different things, that's why I'm frustrated.

Thanks for understanding..

Ok... lets take some baby steps here:

Basic information about CC (Line 21):
1 - the Line 21 (CC) information is embeded in the video stream, not seperate stream

2 - any original movie asset that is used, chances are it has CC data if it's NTSC

3 - when using rejig, this information is retained on the 'jigged' file unlike the .avs which doesn't carry it over

Now,
if your using rejig, you SHOULD be saying Line21 = yes however you should delete the Line 21 Data file part... as you don't need it seeing how it's already on the asset

So,
try this:
Line21 Switch1=Yes
Line21 File=

That tells Scenarist that the CC info is already on the asset
